Root Canal Therapy Sumner

Addressing Pain and Saving Your Natural Tooth

When an infection reaches the inner layer of your tooth, known as the pulp, the most common indicator of the issue is pain. Much more intense than a standard toothache, the discomfort you experience can sometimes only be remedied with the help of root canal therapy. Despite its unfair reputation, this treatment is quite useful for resolving dental pain! Here at Complete Dental Care of Sumner, our team can eliminate the pain by safely removing the pulp and cleaning the tooth. This not only allows for better oral health but also ensures you keep your natural tooth instead of losing it to extraction!

What Happens During a Root Canal?

A root canal isn’t performed until the patient’s mouth has been effectively numbed. Once you’re ready, we’ll isolate the tooth with a dental dam before creating a small hole in the crown. Then, using specialized dental instruments, we’ll carefully access the inner layers of your tooth, clearing out any diseased areas found within the chambers and canals. After removing the infected pulp, we’ll sanitize the tooth before applying a biocompatible substance known as gutta-percha. We’ll then seal off the tooth from future reinfection. After a few weeks, you will return to our office to receive your finalized dental crown for added protection.
